Out of Order
“Out of Order” is a visual reflection on living with chronic illness and disability, where even the present is wrapped in uncertainty. Each painting, like each day, begins as an unsettled conjecture. My initial plans are only speculative place-holders to react to and depart from. While largely abstract, my artworks begin with a threadbare link to representation in both form and technique. I then deliberately resist clarity and shift the images into states of disarrangement and imbalance. More broadly, my work embraces the pursuit of open-ended questions during periods of continuous or unexpected change.
